Tips for a healthy pregnancy
Evidence-based advice from our specialists to help you through every trimester.
First trimester

Take folic acid daily

Begin folic acid (400–800 mcg) before conception and continue through the first 12 weeks to support neural tube development.

Nutrition

Eat iron-rich foods

Include lentils, spinach, and fortified cereals to prevent anaemia. Pair with vitamin C to improve iron absorption.

Second trimester

Stay active safely

Walking, prenatal yoga, and swimming are safe and beneficial. Aim for 30 minutes most days unless advised otherwise.

Hydration

Drink 8–10 glasses daily

Staying well hydrated reduces the risk of urinary infections, constipation, and preterm contractions.

Third trimester

Attend all checkups

Visits become more frequent in the third trimester. Monitor baby movement daily and report any decrease promptly.

Mental wellness

Rest and ask for help

Sleep 7–9 hours and lean on your support network. Postpartum blues are common β€” speak with your doctor if mood changes persist.
